BUDGET 2012 PERAK STATE - 13

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir has thrown a challenge to state Opposition leader, asking him to prove that the Perak’s Budget 2012 is ‘one off’.

He also called on Nizar to verify with facts his statements that the Budget will cause Perak to go bankrupt.

“They should show us verifications to support their claims that our Budget 2012 is one-off and will cause the state to go bankrupt. They are also saying it’s a copycat Budget,” said Dr Zambry who is also Pangkor assemblyman during his winding up speech during the 12th Perak State Assembly’s last day sitting in Ipoh last night.

Nizar had earlier made press statements alleging that most of the expenses for Budget 2012 are one-off and at the same time, he accused the state government of manipulating the rakyat.

Nizar who is Pasir Panjang assemblyman also claims the state government has limited resources to continue funding all its goodies for the rakyat.

He made the comments after Dr Zambry tabled the RM915.26 Perak Budget 2012 which is the highest ever for the state.

The Budget will also see half the total allocation directly benefitting the people, especially needy citizen.

Opposition’s Sitiwan assemblyman Datuk Ngeh Khoo Ham in show of solidarity for his comrade chipped in by saying the RM2,000 incentive for teachers’ club is an example of ‘one off’ funds as it has never been given out before.

“It wouldn’t be a one-off incentive if we intend to carry on giving it in all future Budgets. And if it wasn’t there before this, then it is here today because we introduced it.

“Also, it is nothing unusual that there are changes and new allocations introduced for every Budget and this incentive is one of it,” Dr Zambry said while backbenchers applauded in agreement.

The Chief Minister also said Barisan Nasional is not floating from the overwhelmingly positive responses and praises it has received for the Budget 2012.

“We are not saying we are perfect. There will definitely be some flaws somewhere on certain occasions that we need to rectify so that the rakyat will benefit from our efforts which are aimed at eliminating poverty,” he concluded.
